We call on the Government to exclude offenders convicted of causing death, including by dangerous driving, from early release under the Sentencing Act.
A prison sentence may end, but a victim's sentence never does. Families lose parents, children, grandparents and lifelong partners forever. Birthdays, Christmases and future memories are replaced by grief. We believe reducing sentences after an independent judge has imposed them undermines public confidence in justice. Exempt offenders convicted of causing death, including by dangerous driving, from early release. Justice should not be shortened. Grief cannot be.
