Wildfires are becoming more frequent and more severe due to hotter, drier weather. Fire and Rescue Services often have to rely solely on ground crews, which can struggle to reach fires in remote areas such as moorland, forests and mountains.
Wildfires are becoming more frequent and severe, putting lives, homes, wildlife and firefighters at greater risk. Many countries use dedicated firefighting aircraft to tackle large fires quickly, but we do not have a national fleet. The Government should fund and establish dedicated firefighting aircraft to support Fire and Rescue Services and improve our response to wildfires.
