We call for the time spent by prisoners undergoing mental health treatment to not count towards the time spent on their sentence. We think the sentence should be paused until they are back in prison.
This petition is to ask that whilst any prisoner serving a prison sentence is moved to psychiatric hospital, or other similar facilities for treatment under the Mental Health Act, the prison sentence given by the judge should be paused. Ensuring that once treatment concludes they go back to prison and recommence serving the full prison sentence awarded by the judge. Time spent in a treatment facility should not count towards their jail term.
