Government to support to lower horse care costs for working-class families by cutting horse feed/bedding VAT to 10%, fund livery vouchers and subsidise equine insurance. We think the Government should make vacant public land available to build community stables funded by shows/charity betting.
We demand the Government fund local pilot stables on vacant public land. To keep costs low, we suggest that builders could construct safe outer structures, while volunteers could build their internal stalls. Paid staff could be school-leavers earning legal minimum wage, alongside free rehabilitation/Community Payback volunteers. We believe this could ensure a safe, self-funded community network with minimal cost to the British taxpayer.
