We want the UK Government to make prescribed burning mandatory for Landowners in order to mitigate the impact of Wildfires on Moorland, Heathland and in Woodland.

In our view, by intentionally burning away accumulated dead brush, leaves, and small trees (known as ‘fuel loads’), the risk of catastrophic, uncontrolled wildfires is significantly reduced. It can also create firebreaks that can slow the spread of accidental fires. Many ecosystems are naturally fire-dependent. We believe that by clearing out choking undergrowth, fire encourages the growth of native plants and wildflowers, and that burning dead vegetation quickly returns nutrients to the soil.
