Require applicants for Baby Loss Certificates to undergo NHS verification before a certificate is issued. This should help prevent fraudulent applications, protect the integrity of the scheme, and ensure certificates are only issued to those who genuinely meet the eligibility criteria.
Baby Loss Certificates are intended to recognise the loss experienced by bereaved parents. I believe the current application process should include full verification through NHS records before a certificate is issued. This should help prevent fraudulent applications, protect the integrity of the scheme, and ensure the certificates remain meaningful for families who have genuinely experienced pregnancy or baby loss.
