We want the Government to introduce stronger safeguarding and moderation requirements for social media live-streaming platforms, including real-time moderation, improved reporting tools, intervention procedures for high-risk broadcasts, and enhanced protections for vulnerable users and children.

Live streaming is a major feature of platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch. We believe current safeguards do not always provide adequate protection from harmful, abusive or high-risk behaviour broadcast in real time. We want stronger regulatory standards to improve moderation, reporting, intervention procedures and protections for vulnerable users and children, helping to create safer online environments and reduce the risk of harm.
